Share our Button with your Natural Moms! | One of Claire’s Sensory Processing Disorder symptoms is called Oral Defensiveness. Symptoms of Oral Defensiveness most commonly are gagging and avoidance of strong tastes. By this I mean things that the average person would find normal. Claire does not like any seasoning or spices. I mean none, other than salt, and she can taste everything! [...] I was thinking about dinner for tonight (as we are having guests) and needed to plan a meal that Claire would participate in. It is really important to us,and her food therapist, that she eat as many meals as she can with us. (CLICK HERE to learn more about Oral Defensiveness and SPD.) That [...] So we have been back to school for over a month now and have settled into a nice routine. We always take the first two weeks of school to develop the years schedule. This is a Monday-Friday daily schedule that is structured enough for the kids to know what to expect and flexible enough that [...] OK. So I haven’t really taken the time to stop and think about the last year,Claire’s first year of school. It was definitely an interesting year and full of surprises. I use trader Joe’s Organic Sweet [...] I love this recipe because it is an easy way to make a non-dairy dessert. Trader Joe’s makes dark chocolate chips and bars for baking that are non-dairy and taste great. Also,I can use whatever pureed fruits and vegetables I have on hand. About once a month I spend the morning making purees. I [...] Claire started pre-school just before turning 5,and at pre-school they would “cook”every Thursday. For the first few months I would get a lot of questions about Claire’s diet, what could she have because of her sensitivities. Gradually the questions changed to what will she have? The teachers noticed that she did not even [...] I began adapting recipes to meet the needs of both Claire and Ross. All the recipes I post can be made dairy free and use any flour you wish. If you are going to use All Purpose Flour, reduce the baking soda by 1/4-1/2 tsp. For more substitutions for other allergies, please refer to my [...] | |
