For years I have been looking for natural cosmetics that work, and I have finally found it! It’s called 100% Pure and came across it in an online search for natural eye make up. After doing some research on Skin Deep and reading a few reviews, I thought it worth a shot. My eyes are very sensitive and I have to be careful about using eye make up. I am also very picky about colors. I like colors to be true. By that I mean, what it looks like in the packaging is waht it should look like on me. In addition, I like them to blend well. I think it looks more natural. And I am happy to say that the 100% Pure eye shadows (Satin Shadow in Tahiti, Powdered Shadows in St. Tropez and Fig) have met all my expectations and more! They feel great. I don’t even feel them on my skin! I also have started using the Fruit Pigmented Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20, and it is the best Natural Tinted Moisturizer I have found in the 8 years I have been searching. It leaves your skin looking healthy, even, and moisturized.

Over the last year, I have tried a few other products and have loved then all! But I thought I would give you the scoop on a few of my favorites:

  1. Organic Lavender Seafoam Facial Cleanser: This is like 3 products in 1. It is a great every day cleanser and I feel like the seaweed acts as a mild exfoliant. I also use it as a purifying mask about once a week.
  2. Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream: I had been looking for a good eye cream that could withstand the dry climate of Boise and this is better than all the others I tried. Plus it help my eyes wake up in the morning!
  3. Argan Oil Hydration Facial Moisturizer SPF 30: This is a great moisturizer, especially under make up, and still provides an SPF 30! Argan Oil is one of the most moisturizing oils that exists and a little goes a long way.

I asked Jennifer to share with us her opinions of the Earth Mama, Angel Baby Products:

1) What was your favorite product in the “A Little Something for Baby” kit?

I love the baby body wash.  It has a heavenly smell, is mild yet effective in getting everyone clean.  

2) What was your least favorite product?

I was pleased with all the products.  I have and will continue to use the body wash with my kids.  I will not use the lotion as it is priced a little high for me. The diaper rash cream seems to have a calming effect, but does not really serve to create a barrier like some other creams do so it may not work for every situation.  

3) Why do you like Earth Mama, Angel Baby Products?

I love that they are a small company with safe and identifiable ingredients.   I love the smell of all the products.   

4) What is your favorite product they make?

My favorite product they make has to be the nipple butter as I can not live without it.  I used it with Stella (2.5 years old) as well.  I am pumping a lot more with these guys and find it an essential part of the routine.  I also use this cream on my skin with I have a reaction to jewelry or when Stella has a bad patch eczema with good results.

I was lucky enough to receive a generous bag of organic chamomile flowers from my friend Jardel and have been using them ever since. Most people are aware that chamomile is a gentle and effective sleep aid, but it has several other benefits as well. It is calming, anti-inflammatory, regulating, and soothing. Studies (and my experience) has shown that chamomile can be a wonderful natural health alternative as:

  • Sleep Aid and Muscle Relaxer: most people are familiar in chamomile teas benefits as a sleep aid because of it’s relaxing and soothing properties. I find the pure chamomile flower is best for relaxation. It can help you sleep and help with cramps and muscle aches.
  • Stomach Soother: Camomile tea was always prescribed in my household as a child. I think it came down from my great grandmother who practically raised all her children, grand children, and even a few great grand children. When I have an upset stomach, I like to combine the chamomile with mint for a wonderful anti-nausea tea.
  • Digestion and Detoxification: Chamomile not only soothes an upset stomach, but helps with digestion in general. It can calm irritable or irregular bowls; has been shown to help regulate blood glucose levels; and can help detox the liver. After a heavy or large meal, I like to add a little crystillized ginger as a sweetener to my chamomile tea. Ginger is also known for it’s digestive and detox benefits. Or if you are feeling like you need to detox, adding a slice of lemon (purifier) to your tea always adds benefits to the stomach, kidneys, and liver. Honey can be added to both of these for a little extra digestive boost!
  • Allergy, Asthma, and Congestion: I would guess that chamomiles anti-inflamatory properties help in soothing allergies, asthma, and congestion. Again, the combination of chamomile, ginger, and honey are the best tea for these symptoms. Combined they can act as an expectorant to remove congestion and sooth inflamed sinuses and bronchials.
Cautions: Some people have serious allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis) to chamomile. If you are allergic to other plants in the same family such as daisy, ragweed, aster, chrysanthemum, or marigold you should use caution when using chamomile.Chamomile should be avoided during pregnancy.People with bleeding disorders or on blood thinners should avoid chamomile, as it contains coumarin and may increase the chance of bleeding. It is very important to know the source of your chamomile, especially if you are going to drink it daily like I do. I highly recommend purchasing organic for anything you are using for tea as any sprays or toxins will concentrate as the herbs seep. I was lucky enough to get mine from a friend, Jardel, who got an extra order from More Than Alive.com. In celebration of summer (bug bites, poison ivy, and bee stings), they sent me a sample of Green Salve. Green Salve also soothes irritated skin and eases the discomforts of eczema. If your family is anything like mine, mosquito bites and sun burns are on each and every kid. I find I use it the most on all the little scrapes I get from the zucchini plant when working in the garden. I just apply a little and the stinging stops immediately. By morning, I can’t even tell I was scratched.  I also found myself without any lip balm the other day at the beach. My lips were getting so chapped they were cracking, so I tried the Green Salve and it worked great. It healed my lips completely. Now this is not one of the recommended uses, but I found it very helpful. I have been using it on Ross’ little patch of eczema and it  seems to be helping there too.
