Swimming is great therapy. Just being in the water is calming or comforting. Swimming requires the whole body to work together. It strengthen their core muscles. It takes a lot of thought and control it takes to hold their breath, relax in a back float, and look where they are going. And once they move onto introducing the arms is great for bilateral coordination. And so much more.
I wrote about Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) in a previous post “Water Worries.” This July Claire and Ross took lessons with Ms. Kimberly for 3 weeks. Their progress was amazing! I can not tell you how comforting it is to feel you child is safer around the water. So at the risk of bragging,CLICK HERE to view a video of them swimming this year.
